Why compaction matters
Poorly compacted soil settles over time - leading to cracks in a foundation, sinking asphalt, or shifting pavers. This problem often only shows up years later, when fixing it costs far more than doing it right the first time.
When a hand tamper is enough
For a small area, soft soil, or decorative work like a garden path, a hand tamper can be enough - especially if the surface won't carry heavy load.
When you need a professional vibro roller
- Foundation preparation - a building's foundation needs an even, dense surface to prevent uneven settling.
- Pre-asphalt preparation - how well soil and gravel are compacted before laying asphalt or pavers determines how long the surface lasts.
- Larger areas - yards, parking areas, and road sections simply aren't practical to compact by hand.
- Dense or mixed soil - evenly compacting a gravel-and-clay mix takes vibrational force, not just weight.
What we offer
